04The Catalogue
Al-Ameen linked to an online store, or a photographed catalogue
The items, the prices and the quantities have been in Al-Ameen, or another program, for years. The catalogue or the store reads from it, shows customers the items with their photographs, and the order lands on WhatsApp. Nothing retyped, nothing changed in the program.
The items exist. The photographs do not.
Every item you sell has a line in the program: name, price, how many are left in the warehouse. The hard part of a store was done years ago. What the program lacks is a photograph of each item, and a way out to a page a customer can see. That way out is the integration we build: the accounting software linked to the website or the store, with no second copy of the items.
This is where store projects die: thousands of items retyped into a platform, prices retyped at every change, until the updating stops and the store is selling at last month’s prices. The need shows before any store: a rep sending photographs one at a time on WhatsApp, to each customer, every time.
Your accounting program knows everything about your business. You can’t see any of it.
The Catalogue: the items shown to customers, with photographs
An online catalogue of the items means a list read from the program itself, with a photograph for each item: name and price as they are there, the quantity following the program every hour. A price changed in the program changes in the catalogue.
The items are photographed and published once; the catalogue then follows what the program holds. At Lightware, the lighting distributor on the System: 1,400 items photographed and published, Al-Ameen untouched.
The same link serves a customer abroad on his phone, and a rep who sends one link on WhatsApp instead of photographs one at a time.
Or an online store, with the order on WhatsApp
If what you want is a full store, where the customer chooses and orders by himself, we build it. That is the Work: a project of its own, with a start and an end, separate from the catalogue.
An online store linked to Al-Ameen, or another program, reads the items the same way, so there is no second list to keep up to date beside the first. The order reaches whoever bills at your company as a WhatsApp message, carrying the items, the quantities and the customer’s name, and it is settled as it is today. All that changed is that the customer wrote the order himself, from a list that is right.
The integration runs one way
The store and the catalogue read from the program and write nothing into it. No item is added from the store, no price changed from it, no quantity deducted from it. There is one reference, the program; the store is a window onto it.
Whoever bills at your company enters the order into the program with the permissions he already has, the way any order is entered today. MIDDLEWARE is not Al-Ameen’s maker; it builds on top of it, and the program stays as it is.
The login the store reads with is created by your accountant, read-only: try to write with it in front of him and the attempt fails; delete it whenever you choose.
Questions people ask
- Does this work only with Al-Ameen?
- Al-Ameen or another. The condition: the item list and its prices sit in a program that can be read from.
- Who photographs the items?
- The items are photographed and published once; a new item needs one photograph. The Catalogue covers the photographing.
- Does the store change prices in the program?
- No. The integration runs one way: the store reads the price from the program and never writes into it. The price changes in the program, then shows in the store.
- Where does the order arrive?
- On WhatsApp, as a message to whoever bills at your company. He enters it into the program like any order, and payment stays as it is today.
